LAFAYETTE, CA— Jennifer Chen, an incumbent member of the Acalanes Union High School District (AUHSD) Governing Board, today officially launched her campaign for re-election. Elected in 2022 with the most votes in the field, she became the first person of color to serve on the AUHSD Governing Board in the district's history. She has represented the communities of Lafayette, Moraga, Orinda, and Walnut Creek and now seeks a second term to continue her work on behalf of district students, families, and staff. This will also be the first by-trustee election in AUHSD, following the district's transition from an at-large voting structure in 2025. The board comprises five trustee areas; Chen sits in Trustee Area 3.

Chen’s re-election campaign will focus on three priorities: maintaining and advancing the high academic standards that define AUHSD, ensuring fiscal responsibility and sustainability, and expanding support for student mental health and well-being.

“This campaign is supported by parents, teachers, students, and community members—people who believe our schools are worth investing in,” said Chen. “Our schools are exceptional, and I want to keep them that way. That means holding the line on academics, being careful stewards of public funds, and making sure every student has the support they need to thrive. There’s more work to do, and I’m committed to getting it done.”

The AUHSD Governing Board oversees four comprehensive high schools—Acalanes, Campolindo, Las Lomas, and Miramonte—as well as the Acalanes Center for Independent Study, serving approximately 5,500 students in Contra Costa County.

The November 2026 election will determine three seats on the AUHSD Governing Board. More information about Jennifer Chen’s campaign, her platform, and how to support or get involved is available at jenniferchenforauhsd.org.
